Street Photographers Take the Streets
They say a “picture paints a thousand words”. This is true. People have taken photographs of virtually every subject they can get their hands on since the camera was invented several years back. We take photos of people, places we’ve been to, buildings, etc., and we take them for a variety of reason. There are however, those who wish to capture the candidness, the randomness, even the mundanity of life. Street photographer have long reveled in the gloriousness of human emotions captured thru film, but makes that moment more poignant to them is how they are oftentimes captured, during the most common settings, at the most unremarkable times. Great moments like this do not come easy though. Most find themselves walking endlessly, shooting aimlessly, and capturing uninspiring photos. Fortunately, digital photography has made it easier to fire out successive shots, no longer limited by film rolls, the reality of capturing moments as they happen and while they happen has made the most patient capture legendary moments. Think, Henri Cartier-Bresson, or Diane Arbus. Indeed one has to develop a keen awareness to their surroundings, and even an acute sense of detachment to capture the perfection of what others may find common.
